Greenwood Will Celebrate Return Of Air Mail Service
Restoration of airmail, passenger and express service by plane through the Chicago & Southern Airlines, will be observed here tomorrow afternoon at 1:02 upon the arrival of the southbound plane, with fitting ceremonies.
The airport committee, through whose untiring efforts the improvement of the airport was accomplished, and to whom the restoration of the service is due, is arranging for the appropriate welcome upon the arrival of the plane.
Mayor G. L. Ray, and the city commissioners, members of the board of supervisors, and members of the airport committee, will deliver brief welcomes, while mail is transferred and passengers taken on.
Arriving in Greenwood today for the celebration were D. D. Walker, vice president of the Chicago & Southern lines; Bruce E. Braun, operations manager, and Charles Metcalfe, district traffic manager, who will be recipients of welcome and words of appreciation for the service at Greenwood.
Everybody is urged by the Chamber of Commerce to be on hand tomorrow afternoon at 1:02 for the celebration, and the greetings to the planes.
Two planes daily will stop at Greenwood. The southbound plane will arrive at 1:02 and the northbound plane at 6:05 P. M.
